Leadership and Management SIG: Using the Willingness to Lead Framework to unpack the whats, whys and hows of leadership in EAP

5th February 2026 from 15:00 -16:00

Zoom

Jody Bradford and Irene Addison-Child from the University of Leeds will explore the nuances and contexts of EAP leadership in the hope to possibly move beyond tropes, tired assumptions and ‘norms’ to imagine how we can begin to embody more optimistic, expansive and successful leadership within our EAP contexts. In this free session, they invite participants to discuss three proposed layers of leadership:

  • the personal,
  • the organisational and
  • the professional. (Reinders, 2023)

Jody and Irene will share their own perspectives on leadership in EAP, underpinning them with the Willingness to Lead framework (Reinders, 2023) and it will be used as a basis for discussion.  Before coming to the session, it would be helpful to read the following short text:

Chapter 1 in: Reinders, H. (ed.). 2023. Language
teacher leadership: insights from research and practice. Cham, Switzerland: Palgrave Macmillan.
