BALEAP is delighted to announce the recipients of the Pathways to Impact Case Study Grants.

The competitive grant scheme supports BALEAP members to develop and disseminate robust, evidence-based case studies demonstrating the impact of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) on student success and/or institutional outcomes. To ensure a fair and transparent process, applications were reviewed independently and anonymously using a standardised scoring framework, with each application assessed by a panel of three reviewers against clearly defined criteria. BALEAP Executive Committee members were not involved in the assessment or selection of the successful projects.

The successful projects are:

Yaxin Zhang — Heriot-Watt University
How Pre-sessional Students Frame Their Prior Academic Traditions: Investigating EAP Assessment’s Impact on Epistemic Self-Positioning

Sarah Mattin, Dr Jennifer Sizer & Dr Karin Whiteside — University of Reading
Evidencing EAP impact: a mixed-methods case study of discipline-specific in-sessional provision at the University of Reading

Angelos Bakogiannis & David Murray — University of Salford
Demonstrating the Reach, Value and Impact of In-Sessional EAP Provision in UK Higher Education: A Case Study from the University of Salford

Dr Stergiani Kostopoulou — University College Dublin
Developing feedback literacy in AI-mediated EAP writing: A multi-source feedback case study

These projects will contribute to the evidence base for EAP across a range of institutional and learning contexts.

Congratulations to all the award recipients.

We look forward to sharing their case studies with the wider EAP community.
